Twestival of course! And what is that you ask. It is a twitter festival? Or a festival organized by twitterers? Or "Social Media for Social Change" as described by the folks at Mashable (one of the partners for the event)?
Long story short. Twitter is a free micro blogging / social networking service that has see exponential growth in the last 12 months. Simply stated in their words...
"Twitter is a service for friends, family, and co–workers to communicate and stay connected through the exchange of quick, frequent answers to one simple question: What are you doing?"
All in 140 characters or less btw.
At least that is how it started. But like many great services, their inventive users have take the small startup in directions they may never have anticipated.
Case in point, Twestival.
On February 12, 2009 in more than 175 cities around the world there will be "tweet-ups" (twitter meet ups) to raise money for Charity:Water. The mission of Twestival is to raise money to provide clean, safe drinking water to the nearly 1.1 billion people on the planet who don't have access to it.
