Spanish Holiday 1

My wife and I are spending our Christmas traveling through Spain. We are currently in Madrid, for probably the seventh or eighth time since we've been together, visiting my in-laws. Madrid is a wonderful city. The sites are interesting, the food is good and the people are friendly. And, there is plenty of WiFi (pronounced weefee here) for us internet junkies. Today, we visited my mother in law and took her to one of her favorite restaurants. The owner knows her well and came over for a long chat. That's one of the things that I really like about the Spanish people. They are not so tied up doing things that they can't stop to chat with friends. As for our meal we had the "Menu del dia" which was two plate of your choice, a desert, coffee and either beer, wine or water for 10 Euros. Lunch is the event of the day and starts around 1:30-2:00 in the afternoon and lasts for a couple of hours. Later in the day we walked through the "chueco" (literally not straight) neighborhood over to the Porta del Sol to see the Christmas decorations and then dropped into a small bar on the way back to our hotel to have a "caña" (a small beer) and a plate of tapas. We're off to Toledo tomorrow. More then.
