Apple announcements at WWDC...

Here is a VERY quick update with some links for those of you who are interested. I am sure we will have more to talk about in the coming months, but here are the press releases just hours after the keynote at WWDC.

First... the new version of the desktop OS (Lion) will be available in July. The big news to us (beyond the features) is that it will only be $29 in the App Store. And even bigger news, the Server software will only be $49. This is 90% off current price.

Next up... iOS5 for iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch. There were many cool and long awaited features announced for the free "fall" release of iOS5, not the least of which is the ability to activate w/out being attached to a computer. See my many recent posts about getting "un-chained" from iTunes.

You can find out more here.

We also got to hear about the much anticipate and rumored iCloud services. I must say it looks very nice and it is going to be FREE and will also be available in the fall with the release of iOS5. Here is how Apple describes it...

"iCloud is Apple's innovative new service that stores your content and wirelessly pushes it to all your devices—iPad, iPhone, iPod touch, Mac, or PC. iCloud integrates seamlessly with your apps so everything happens automatically." Read more here.

And lastly, be careful what you wish for... as MobileMe was officially pronounced dead today. No new subscriptions will be sold as of today. Existing subscribers will have their service extended until June 30th 2012.

According to Apple... "MobileMe members who sign up for iCloud will be able to keep me.com or mac.com email addresses and move their MobileMe mail, contacts, calendars, and bookmarks to the new service."

So that is as quick an update as we can provide just a few hours after all the announcements. Stay tuned as we learn more.

Take care and have a great day.
