Nest thermostat offered as perk by utility co.

We have posted before about the Nest learning thermostat. Designed by an ex Apple designers, it is a programmable thermostat that you don't program. At least not in the way we are used to. You simply use it, adjust temperatures as needed, and it learns and programs itself. Of course there is a app for it as well.

However, the big news today is that Reliant Energy (the utility here in Houston Texas) has announced a conservation program where they are giving customers a Nest thermostat when they sign up. Nest claims a potential 20 to 30 percent savings with their thermostat.
