The Steve Jobs biopic jOBS, starring Ashton Kutcher, will open in theaters April 19, the 37th anniversary of the founding of the Apple Computer.
It feels like yesterday that Steve Jobs passed away and I think he always knew how to employ people in the media who could keep Apple's name out in the forefront. I think the company may still be employing that strategy today, with Apple's stock price on rocky ground this week, and then we get the announcement of the release date of the movie jOBS in the same week. During this a down week for share holders this announcement kinda serves as a feel good accomplishment even though it may actually have little to do with Apple itself.
I don't doubt that many of us will pay the coin to go see the flick and I have not heard anything good or bad about the portrayal of the Elvis of the IT World. Part of me wants to check it out, but there is another part of me thinks it's still to soon. Marketing 101 taught us to strike while the iron is hot and i guess some of Steve's flame is still burning in us the Apple faithful. Anyway I saw the first trailer bit and thought it might be of interest. Check it out below.
