3D printed moon base anyone?

Fosters + Partners architecture, the firm that gave us the HSBC headquarters in Hong Konk as well as other great architectural designs, is working with the European Space Agency to design a lunar base for 4 astronauts. The truly amazing part of this is that the building is to be built of components that are printed on a 3D printer. This is a similar technology that is behind the makerbot 3D printers, but on a much larger scale.
They are currently building a mock-up of the building in a large vacuum chamber that simulates the conditions found on the moon.
I guess the future really is now. You can read more about the project here.
