Mac OS-X Gatekeeper hack potentially devastating to security.

In 2012 Apple introduce a new way to keep macs running OS-X secure. It was called "Gatekeeper" and it is still one of the primary ways that Apple insures the security of it's computer software. Basically it requires that all apps be securely signed by Apple.
However, a new hack gets around this security by embedding malicious applications along side a trusted app. The trusted app gets approval from gatekeeper, but the malicious app basically gets approved by association. The researcher is not releasing the names of the apps that can be used for this purpose, and Apple is currently working on a fix. In the meantime be careful what you download an install on your mac. The best option is to get your apps from Apple's app store. You can read more about this here.
