Docker makes application distribution easy (er).

This week at DockerCon, Yes, there is such a thing as a "DockerCon", in San Francisco they announce the release of Docker v1.0. For those of you that are wondering what in the world Docker is, it is a means to compartmentalize applications and then distribute them to other servers running Docker. This is similar to Virtual Machine computing where an OS environment is run on top of another OS environment as if it were an actual computer. This gives users the ability to run a copy of Windows on a Mac or a copy of Mac OS-X on a Linux machine. However, Docker makes this possible on the application level. It allows users to package an application or service as a Docker Container then run that container on another computer that is running Docker. It is really a cleaver idea. Unfortunately this currently only works easily on Linux. I'm hoping that it may come to Mac and Windows soon. We can always hope....
