Late last year I decided to start working out again. This was not a New Years resolution kind of thing, but a conscious decision to get off my backside and start doing exercise again. I used to go to the gym all of the time, but I got out of the habit. Back in the day, I used to do weight training nearly exclusively. This go round, I've been doing a lot more aerobic/cardo activity. In an effort to not wear myself out, I decided to get a heart rate monitor, so I can keep track of how hard I'm working out.
After reviewing the myriad of heart rate monitors on the market, I decided to go with one that straps around the forearm. There are plenty models that go around the wrist and chest, but I didn't want the hassle of the chest strap and the wrist monitors can have accuracy problems. The model I went with is called the Rhythm+ and is made by Scosche. The other thing that I like about this model is that it connects via both Bluetooth Smart and ANT+. I was able to connect it to my 7th Gen iPod Nano and I use the Nike+ fitness app to keep track of my workouts.
