a new "better" book about Steve Jobs...

Although Walter Isakson was chosen by Steve to write his official biography ( Steve Jobs available at Amazon ), I have read that book and am about 1/3 of the way thru the new book (Becoming Steve Jobs available at Amazon) and have found it much more engaging than the Isakson effort.

Becoming Steve Jobs (by BRENT SCHLENDER & RICK TETZELI) has received much press in the few days since its release and many of the Apple executives as well as others who knew Steve agree that this book comes closer than any other to revealing the man they knew.

If you are at all interested in the topic, I would highly recommend you skip the Isakson book and start with this one. And if, like me, you have already read the Isakson book, I would recommend you give this one a whirl as it is a more insightful, more interesting, more thoughtful retrospective of Steve's life.

The Evolution of a Reckless Upstart into a Visionary Leader
A brilliantly reported, compellingly written book that overturns the conventional view of Steve Jobs—the Jobs that is frozen forever as half genius, half jerk—Becoming Steve Jobs answers the central question about the life and career of the Apple cofounder and CEO: How did a young man so reckless and arrogant that he was exiled from the company he founded become the most effective visionary business leader of our time? Drawing on extensive interviews with Jobs’s inner circle, family members, friends, and competitors, veteran journalists Brent Schlender and Rick Tetzeli present a portrait of Jobs that is far more nuanced and intimate than previous biographies.
